Gold for Luca Incrocci, ISSC President
Erasmus MC’s radiation-oncologist Dr. Luca Incrocci has been awarded the Gold Medal for leading experts within Europe by the European Federation of Sexology.
Luca Incrocci received the award for his work and career dedicated to the study of sexual functioning of cancer patients at the biennial congress of the European Federation of Sexology (EFS) last Saturday in Madrid. Incrocci treats cancer patients at Erasmus MC-Daniel den Hoed and knows like no other the effects of the treatment on the sex lives of these patients.
Already twenty years ago, Incrocci started his research on the effect of prostate cancer treatment on the sexual functioning of the patient. In 2000 he started an out-patient clinic dedicated to cancer patients with sexual problems.
“I am honoured to receive the Gold Medal and thankful to EFS for recognizing how important it is to develop research and educational activities dedicated to sexual functioning of cancer patients”, Incrocci said in Madrid. He delivered a Gold Medal lecture on ‘Prostate cancer and sexual functioning’ to an international public of more than 300 sexologists and medical specialists.
